Art direction and design for Thrice’s eighth studio album. The artwork is a reflection of the extremely tumultuous personal lives of the band members during the years of writing and recording the album — full of extreme highs and lows.
The ambient, textural, and austere images are made to convey confusion and the blurry speed of the movement of time. The cover art is an obvious homage to the work of abstract painter Mark Rothko. The artwork is printed on uncoated and purposefully thin paper stocks to accelerate the aging and wear on the shelf.
